Ekta Jaipuria and Ruchira Kandhari
Ekta Jaipuria ad Ruchira Kandhari showcased their collection at WIFW A/W 2010 with an esoteric dream representing two series: ‘Bio and Alluring Design’. The range was inspired by the multi-ethnic culture of Turkey, experimenting with the Baroque style, adding an eccentric appeal through unrestrictive silhouettes.
The collection gave glimpses of technical nuances exhibiting detailing, workmanship, construction and craft at its zenith through its innovative skills. The styles captured a rough medieval mood, elegant with carefully placed pleats and cowls, supple fabrics, geometric lines and shapes.
Ekru Bio range exuded serene tranquillity and simple sophistication balanced with an urban appeal. The ensembles were inspired by nature, very wearable, simple, smart, detailed understated, sans ostentatious ornamentation. Ekru Bio travelled back to the roots of nature, picking up elements and exploring them through colours, textures, surface treatments and fabrics.
Ekru Alluring Design was experimentation with traditional embroidery with an innovative contemporary look. It displayed a trousseau line of churidar kurtas, skirts, tunics, saris all ethnic in a vivid mélange of styles and silhouettes. There were basic casuals to exclusive formals with a unique blend of crème and gold all through.
The colour range offered a natural palette, multi-coloured, earth colours, violets and camel, bright red, greens sparkled in different intense tones, synergising creativity and comfort to reflect the ethnic roots in modern silhouettes. Unique architectural elements were discovered by embroidery which was circular, curved and in wavy lines in a unique mix of patterns including the spiral, all over and interconnected.
The collection was for a classic, simple woman of today with understated elegant, confident and self-sustained with a free spirit.
