Subtle Glamour

kiran uttam ghoshKiran Uttam Ghosh showcased her WIFW A/W 2010 collection named ‘Chiconomics: the new economics of design’ which deals with casual and effortless chic look. The collection was inspired by Egyptian costumes, seen in bejeweled metallic necklines, yokes and various shades of rich sand.

The colour story deals in shades of caramel brown, white, mustard, olive green, wine and black. Oxidized metallic foil print and gota borders in hues of shiny silver, gold and bronze illuminating the otherwise soft, flowy, translucent and layered ensemble. It imparted a rich gypsy relaxed look. The fabric range included georgette, jersey, chiffon, satin, antique gold crushed/tissue with multiple layers in sheer fine net. Very fine horizontal pin tucks were seen almost in every garment in the form of panels and sleeves which were long and fitted. Garments had subtle detailing and were ornamented with metal thread, antique and crystal gold embroideries, muted monochrome block and screen prints.

The style and look was relaxed, casual, simplified and trendy, for women who carry themselves with calm composed elegant demeanor. The ensembles consisted of straight pyjamas with long slits, exaggerated armholes, concave hemlines, thin waist ties, tassels, cowls and hoods. The silhouettes included long, straight, cocoon shaped, blouson tunics and minimal panels with a hint of embellished shiny edges.
